Welcome!

As with the titular shipyards, this site is dedicated to articles and observations on canon Starfleet starships, especially the Wolf 359 graveyard.

My initial motivation to re-visit the Battle of Wolf 359 from Star Trek: The Next Generation's "Best of Both Worlds" was purely self-serving: I wanted to build the New Orleans class, one of the ships from that scene - and I wanted to do it the most authentic way possible. Doing that required some research. At some point, I expanded that venture into building all AMT kitbash models. In an attempt to chronicle the information I gathered, I decided to create this website.

Right now, it serves two purposes: first, collect my lessons learned and experiences from building the Wolf 359 starships (so that you, if you want to, can attempt to do the same) and, second, disclose my research on the battle of Wolf 359 both in-universe and behind the scenes. Please remember that it's a work in progress that will be expanded as I dig deeper and continue to build those models.

Following my logic, this website is split into three sections: the Progress Blog, where I give regular (hopefully... ;-) ) updates on my work, the Wolf 359 Analysis, dedicated to the production background and history in the spirit of the Wolf 359 Research Project, and Building the Fleet, a step by step description of how to recreate 1:1 repicas of (most of) the ships.

Speaking of the Wolf 359 Research Project, I am a devoted fan of Bernd Schneiders work at www.ex-astris-scientia.org, and the effort and dedication he (and everyone else) put into the subject remains the foundation of any and all further research. I am not trying to reproduce what has been done over there. I could not match their work, even if that would be my intention. Rather, I try to fill some gaps and go deeper into aspects that have so far been left unexplored.

In closing, note that all copyright and trademarks remain with the owners of Star Trek and their licensees (especially AMT/Round 2 corp., to whom I frequently refer). This website is a non-profit, educational endeavour. I will always try to give credit to everyone who contributed to this research on the internet over the years and properly quote and link all materials used on this website. If you created any of the materials and want them removed, or if you find any mistakes, do not hesitate to contact me.

I hope you enjoy the read!
